The film put me in mind of Percy, R (on the application of) v Corby Magistrates' Court [2008] EWHC 607 where Lord Justice Moses said of the Magistrates,

"I don't know what they are playing at."

I am not a lawyer, but...

There are also more than a few passing parallels, naming conventions aside, between the efforts of the 'Freemen' and those of the Muad'Dib's 'Fremen'.

Both groups seek to establish that 'common law' trumps the legal and legislative framework of Maritime / Corporate law and the rights they seek under 'common law' are god-given, with Her Maj presiding, on god's authority, over them; bless 'ER.

The distinction seems to arise at the point where Muad'Dib has decided that he should replace Her Maj so he can kill homosexuals, 'traitors' and anyone else he doesn't like with divine authority and impunity.

In other words, it's all backwards-looking, regressive nonsense.

But we all knew that anyway.

There's some high quality dialogue to be enjoyed there, such as...

THE CLAIMANT: And you have some very nice black files there.

LORD JUSTICE MOSES: Yes, we have. How much were they?

THE CLAIMANT: I think they were 99p each.

They do

What bakes my gnocchi is the niggling suspicion that there might actually be a tiny wee grain of Truth™ nestled in there somewhere

Natural rights is simple nonsense: natural and imprescriptible rights, rhetorical nonsense — nonsense upon stilts.

Innit! The eternal bind, the subtle mix of a tiny wee grain of truth and a mountain of manure.

Speaking of mountains of manure, I hope at some stage today to catch-up with and start shovelling off some of the manure that has manifested in your comments thread at the other place.

As do I

I made a start but it just keeps piling up

My fault I suppose for raising the subject in the 1st place

Blighty is a liberty based jurisdiction which means that you can do what you want as long as there isn't a law preventing it.

In this jurisdiction there are three sources of law: viz, the common law, statute and european law. This is all well settled as far as I understand.

As for the 'Freemen' it would help if they cited some case law to support their contentions. That said, the behaviour of the magistrates, supposed or otherwise, was pathetic. As to filming in court and subsequently putting the films on t'internet, isn't this contempt of court?

Perhaps, the elders of the conspiraloon alliance may wish to consider a tactical retreat with regard to the film?

I have an innate instinctive aversion to anything "wrapped in the tumescent glow of the imperial powers' red, white and blue tricolor."

That and anything that tries to pass off a feudal monarch as the ultimate arbiter and saviour of freedoms, rights, liberties, justice, etc.

I see quite a lot of contempt being displayed in that video but no-one appears to be being arrested

This can't be real footage of a real court can it?

Any excuse to work in a photo of Muad'dib is good for me

I wonder about that but ... if it purports to be a court (although it may not be because procedural rules may not have been followed etc) that wouldn't necessarily stop the initiation of a prosecution. It may not get very far but effort would be required to stop the process.

I wonder about that and ... it would make me worry that they are going to do something about it. They are looking like utter and complete fools on the basis of the images.

Roughly speaking, there seem to be two possible explanations for the behaviour portrayed in that film

1. The people playing the role of court officials have a poor grasp of the law

or

2. The people playing the role of court officials have an excellent grasp of the law

Either answer raises a few questions

There is definitely *some* truth in there, no doubt. There is a fellow who has gotten out of the system so to speak, in terms of getting out of paying income tax in the US (The Informer @ ATGPRESS).
But his solution is to never go to court in the first place.
I've encountered a lot of bollocks listening to the sovereign/freeman movement, but this fellow I tend to believe. He was been interviewed for hours on vyzygoth.com, and is a very discrete fellow, beyond that.
Evidently he set up trust funds many years ago, to register things he would need like drivers license etc. so he could function within the system. Apparently those loopholes have been sealed.
His story is truly strange, even for hardened conspiranauts, so ymmv.
Even as a small boy, I always thought the legal system and its legalese was full of chicanery.
At least the informers story gives me a logical reason why judges wear robes like priests.
