While I relish the spook's discomfort, it's interesting he:

"went on to say the conjunction of events relating to Iraq was highly unusual and unlikely to apply to issues such as Iran's nuclear programme."

The redevelopment of Iran into a glowing green car park is a heartfelt desire amongst those that matter. The embarrassment of an ex insider who is cautiously briefing against it would hardly upset these enthusiasts.
