there are some people who think that downloading films for free means that the pirates pay too little for the privilege of enjoying quality mainstream cinema

those people obviously haven't seen Iron Man

Brothers and sisters, these film makers should be supported!
They are a shining light on a hill of shite.

paul said...

...and you have to remember it would cost $20 million dollars to make it yourself!
Fair shares for all, say I.

If all your ripping off is shite...why bother?

one wouldn't go so far as to say it's all shite

but the diamond:dross ratio is not what it was

The Mist has some excellent giant bugs. You even get a religious nutcase as an added bonus. Despite the Johnny Rico eye candy, Starship Troopers 3 fails against The Mist. And against Starship Troopers 1, which was directed by Verhoeven, the finest director of the modern age as anyone who's seen Total Recall will attest. FACT.

I like to think of Robocop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers as one big beautiful trilogy. A three part loving homage to the joys of fascism and dismemberment. I really would be stuck to single out a favourite

The Mist is pretty fucked up too but lacking in the spiffy uniform and corporate malice departments

All excellent points, but there is still some quite awesome Conspiraloon™ material in The Mist. A self-proclaimed Messiah! Sinister government military types meddling with other dimensions!! The ease with which shitted-up people can and will be manipulated!!! Erm!!!! Yeah, well...anyway.....

Personally, I've never seen any giant bugs that rival the giant ants in Empire of the Ants, as I've repeatedly said before. Plus corporate greed, pointy collars and toxic waste = total win.
Giant bugs probably pose a bigger threat to the West than al-Qa'ida; thank GOD we've got those socially-minded Hollywood types to makes sure we're all prepared for the worst.

and remember, to fight the bug, we must understand the bug

Have to disagree about TR, very flat compared with the others, , too much rubber makeup and most annoying ,die gropenfuhrer's constant mugging. A pity since thematically one of the most faithful to dickian ideas but without the crisp magic that only ed neumeier brings.
ST3 is right up there with ST1 in my book, and it was made for washers.

Some of the best

The book is top as well

A fair criticism of TR

It does however include this quality exchange...

Technician: Sir, the oxygen level is bottoming out in Sector G. What do you want me to do about it?
Cohaagen: Don't do anything.
Technician: But they won't last an hour, sir.
Cohaagen: Fuck 'em. It'll be a good lesson to the others.

which counts for a lot

looking forward to a viewing of ST3...

I did like the line:

...who cares about a bunch of lazy mutants?

I did want to like it more than I actually did and there was much of the robo remake about it

michael ironside v kurtwood smith?

No contest (though MI was good in ST)

Though the film I think is best for the current catastrophe is this one
with maybe a little of this one
