It wasn't so long ago that a gullible net user was a fisherman with a dodgy boat.

What an elegant swimming pool the inaugural issue appears to be sporting.

It looks like the pool they have on all the postcards.

I can't think of anything witty to say, but sadly, other than DD, what else stands in the way of 42 days?

I don't want to side with the 'normal' (steered) channels, but honestly, I see no alternative to the smokescreen (or otherwise) debate.

I'm gagging for someone to show me such an alternative that might actually yield something.

yrs in a trough of unease,

Hi LWTC247, 42 days was never the real issue for there are people who have been locked up without charge for far longer than 42 days, many whose detention pre-dates even 28 days detention without charge, something which David 'Death Penalty' Davis supported fully.

Babar Ahmad and Harry Roberts spring immediately to mind.

Instead the issues are secret inquests and jury-less trials both of which received nary a mention in the 42 days media storm. There's more on the Davis PR stunt here, including a link to Stef's post scooping the Dead Trees by two weeks.

Cheers for the reply Ant. I agree very much that the more important issues are being smothered, and that is totally shameful.

But I can't shrug off the feeling that there hasn't yet been a focal point to kick start a unified or strongly backed opposition to the sickening downturn of liberty and decency as exercised by the state within it's own borders.

The 42 day issue, which I agree is bursting with cautionary aspects as publicised by dear StefZ, seems a reasonable place to start.

I'ts difficult just waiting around waiting for the 'big moment' which may not happen. Then there's the issue of can we put aside our differences and suspicions to actually achieve anything to stop the full blown emergence of totalitarianism within the UK?

You've probably seen my concerns on this in other places, but I see no choice but to support this 42 day thing as it encompasses the wider debate on ID and liberty etc.

But I see Mr Icke's invitation (shill or not) to Mr Davis hasn't yielded fruit as to a wide debate.
