Something for the weekend, Conspiraloons™

"They must find it difficult...
Those who have taken authority as the truth,
rather than truth as the authority."
-Gerald Massey

Gods™, Christianity™, Masters™, Bankers Rule the World™, One World Government™, JFK™, 9/11™, Madrid 11/3™, London 7/7™ and the global population microchipping plan™ - Zeitgeist The Movie - it's got the lot, including George Carlin and Bill Hicks.

And not once does it mention Aliens™, Lizards™ or Shapeshifters™.

Slick.

What's all this nonsense about 'No Aliens'? You idiots will give us TROOFSHEEPERS™ a shoddy rep with silly talk like that.

By the way, did you know that aliens made us smart, the life on this planet got on okay, but for no good reason aliens came down and tinkered with us, 'cos what with their hovercars and crease free diamond suits and curing all diseases they had time on their hands and fuck all to do with it.

Of course, the great thing about discussing the considerable weaknesses in evolutionary theory is that you immediately find yourself batting for Christian Fundamentalists and Space Alien fanboys

Alternatively you could embrace the dominant paradigm and find yourself in the intellectual company of such fine human beings as Richard Dawkins and Josef Mengele

Hmmm, tricky...

I'm 15 minutes in and will pick the rest of it up later today

First thoughts...

It was made about 200 years too late. Religion is used as a tool and a cover story, no doubt, but the awful things that are going on in the world boil down to material theft. I doubt very much if Hindus, Quakers and Buddists have anything to do with the operation of the MIC

If you could somehow abolish all organised religion tomorrow it wouldn't change a thing. So, in that respect, I worry that the focus on religion is a distraction

When most people, Americans certainly, talk about religion they have one specific form of religion uppermost in mind - US style Christian Fundamentalism which is both intolerant and just about the least Christ-like belief system anyone could come up with. No arguments from my corner of the room on that one

I'd maintain that Christian Fundamentalism was created and is nurtured, as with the Catholic faith of old, by very earthly interests. I can understand why people get wound up about religion but they are focusing on the weapon rather than the creature wielding it.

Basically, I could sit down tomorrow and make my own film that highlights all the awful things that have been carried out in the name of atheism and Darwinistic thinking - the 20th century contains bounteous amounts of source material. But I won't because I think that would be a distraction. Sauce for the goose...

This comment is on the wrong blog isn't it?

Whoopsies

Anyway, Mr Fish appears to be further in and being pleasured immensely so maybe it will rock my world...

Carlin and Hicks still rule though - even if I don't agree 100% with everything they say

It is possible

31 minutes in and I'm a bit shocked that the makers seem to have missed out on the legend of the Death of Osiris which includes lunar cycles, physical resurrection, penises and fish - a winning combo IMHO...

Thus it later became said that Osiris had been killed by being dismembered into 13 parts

...before resurrecting Osiris/Horus, Isis put together 12 of the 13 parts, but was unable to find the 13th, which was said to have been destroyed completely by the Oxyrhynchus fish (a fish with an unusual curved snout resembling depictions of Set), had swallowed the part that was Osiris' penis

Stef,

It's worth mentioning the statement on the Zeitgeist web site which states (my emphasis):

Zeitgeist was created as a not for profit work to inspire people to start looking at the world from a more critical perspective. The large Internet response for this film was very unexpected, as the work itself is not finished. The Google release was simply to show immediate friends & consultants. Over the course of the next few weeks a new version of the work will be presented. In all humility I want to point out that 99% of the information in the current work is accurate. The 1% that is highly debatable is going to be clarified or removed. The graphics are also going to be improved. Furthermore, on this site there will be a source list for the entire film, detailed by segment. It is my hope that people will not take what is said in the film as the truth, but find out for themselves.

On that basis, it might be worth dropping them a mail with the observations you've listed so far, such as the legend of Osiris, as anything which helps fill in the picture to a fuller extent can only be a good thing.

If you could somehow abolish all organised religion tomorrow it wouldn't change a thing. So, in that respect, I worry that the focus on religion is a distraction

I took the focus on religion more as a background to how long myths have been maintained by the creature wielding the weapon to maintain a uniformity of opinion among the masses while they go about their business of breaking all the rules by which everyone else is supposed to live. Which, in many respects, was a perfect lead-in from 2000 years of hellfire and brimstone religious mythology to a couple of other errant, flawed and pernicious official doctrines and belief systems like the Nazis, 9/11, Madrid 11/3, and London 7/7.

people are yelling "'oos a shill™ ?" about this thing, commenting on pooper power and his 'exercise' business, they're not best pleased about jones, meacher and whatnot neither, but i took those in the film at 'what they said in this' only, and left the baggage of other things they might have said elsewhere behind

any idea whether there were any inaccuracies in the clips/soundbites/quotes that were used ?

oops ! this is all getting a bit thoughtful and considered for my liking...

That's part of what's clever about this film. It takes the pertinent stuff from the mass of bullshit perpetuated by the likes of AJ, Meacher, et al and gives it a more useful context free of the usual nonsensical baggage.

Nice touch, I thought.

@ant

I'll probably blog about this at some point over the next couple of days and send the makers a link

there is good information in there but a few liberties have been taken and I am also concerned that presenting material in this way will serve to separate those decent people with religious faith from those decent people without. That's probably my No1 concern

I've still got 1/2hr left to watch though...

and whilst we're recommending films I saw 'Shooter' this weekend.

It's badly acted, full of plot holes and practically a hymn to the US Patriot/ Militia movement but all that aside it is still a must for all Conspiraloons. It's a bit like Parallax View for the 21st Century only the hero doesn't die and gets to use a lot more napalm.

The quote section in the the imdb doesn't do it justice at all...

www.imdb.com/title/tt0822854/quotes

off the top of my head, favourite lines include...

'You're telling me the people who shot Kennedy were killed and buried that afternoon?'
'I've still got the shovel out back'

'Do we let America be ruled by thugs?'
'Some years we do'

'There are no Democrats, Republicans, Sunnis or Shiites, just have and have-not's.

Marvelous, marvelous stuff
